Computer Lab Installation
GVI and dedicated volunteers strive to improve the quality of education in Vietnam through the use of technology. Over the years, GVI volunteers have installed computer labs in schools and community centers giving children and teachers the opportunity to enhance learning. GVI is currently seeking support to install a new computer lab at Ban Phung Middle School located in the mountainous area of Sapa District in North Vietnam.
Water Filters Donations
Much of the water used in the north comes down from the mountains and is often contaminated by pesticides and animals. GVI provides water filters to schools and community centers to ensure that families in northern Vietnam are drinking clean water. For just $75 per filter, GVI can install a unit that will last indefinitely and remove harmful bacteria and contaminants from the water.
Tractor Donations
GVI donations provide walk-behind tractors to rural families helping them increase productivity and harvest in their rice paddies and cornfields. A donation of $600 pays for most of the cost of a tractor. The families then contribute the remaining funds based on the quality of the tractor purchased. A walk-behind tractor can double the income of a family in just one year and change their lives forever.
Vietnamese Exchange Student Program
Another opportunity to impact lives in Vietnam is through our exchange student program. Since 2000 NorthWood families have hosted 66 exchange students during their junior / senior year of high school. Many of these students go on to attend universities in the United States and will return to Hanoi and become Vietnam’s future leaders. Orphan Camp Sponsorship
Each year GVI volunteers donate their time to provide a wonderful opportunity for children, from the Vietnamese orphanages supported by GVI, to enjoy something that many of us take for granted -- summer camp.
To make this wonderful blessing of summer camp available to the orphans and their caregivers, we need your help. Your sponsorship of just $100 covers the cost of sending a child to camp and includes transportation, food, lodging, insurance and activities during the entire trip. Sports Equipment
GVI hosts sports camps for children in Vietnam teaching skills in baseball, basketball, soccer, volleyball, and flag football. You can help by providing equipment for the children or a monetary donation to purchase equipment. If you have new or gently used sports equipment for any of these sports that you would like to donate, please contact us.
