Dai
Name: DaiDate of Birth: December 11, 1997
Hometown: Mong Cai
Medical condition: Autism
How long at Hope Centre: 2 years (still at Hope Center)
Dai first entered the Hope Centre at 8 years old with severe autism. He had no language ability and smashed and destroyed anything around him or given to him. The staff had to keep a close eye on him because he would often dash out into the traffic in front of the Center. When he first arrived, the doctor’s felt that he had "almost no hope".
Nevertheless, he made quick progress and now has language ability and knows his alphabet and can recognize characters. They expect that in a year or two, he will be able to join a public school (probably at 1st grade level).
