Water, Health and Hygiene Initiative - Lao Cai

GVI water teams are composed of volunteers trained in installing water filtration units, providing health and hygiene instruction, and safe drinking water. Over the past three years, GVI’s water team has installed 9 water filters and trained 150-200 people in health and hygiene care.

In March 2008,Forefront Church(VA)brought a multi-disciplinary team whose main goal was to provide running water to the Ta Phin middle school in Sapa. They funded the project and their volunteers cooperated with local construction workers to build a concrete holding tank. A filter for clean drinking water was added later and the water system was completed in May 2008.
